Of Dentist Chairs and Blue FIllings.

So...dudes. Dudettes.

I spent 2 hours at the dentist last week, listening to the Audiobook of LA CANDY.  It's voiced by Lauren Conrad, which makes it impossible to differentiate between her and the thinly veiled fictional version of her.

Anyway, it was actually kind of fun and frothy, a guilty pleasure type. Maybe it was the novicaine. But it DID Help pass the time, and its reasonably interesting, if you can get over the *OMGATTACKOFTHEADVERBS*.

Also: the filling I got is blue. Bright blue. Like, crest toothpaste bright blue.

What's up with that? And *YES* I am asking my blog readers rather than phoning the dentist and asking. Becuase this is more fun. So what say you, blog readers-- is my tooth going to fall out and/or develop super powers?

Huh. They did have to build up the tooth significantly-- I had a filling fall out and the tooth kind of broke-- but does that mean they just leave it blue forever? Becuase I'm not getting a cap/crown at all.

At least now I have a cool party trick....

My guess is that your new blue tooth has magical powers that can bring chewing gum to life - just like in a cartoon I once saw. :o) Either that or it's a really advanced form of Bluetooth technology. *snicker*

I have something like that too. My orthodontist put something on my mollars and I just recently figured out that whatever it is is electric blue. We should start a club of super powered teeth!

Don't know about the blue tooth filling, but great idea bringing an audiobook. I'm going to do that at my upcoming appointment.

Oh I just read LA Candy too! Just wondering - did you watch The Hills? I didn't so I wondered how much of it seemed true??
thought the story was surprisingly good, but didn't care for the alternating voices, did you??

Yeah, i have seen all the episodes of THE HILLS. You can definitely see things that were from her real life-- she had an internship too and magically was having all these cool things happen to her. Heidi got a job as a events coordinator for a major event place and I read online that the job was a direct result of the show and wasn't "real", like she didnt actually have true responsibilties. And most of the clubs they go to in the book she goes to in real life.

I didnt like the alternating voices much either. I thought it would have worked better to be 100% from jane's POV-- you didnt really get anything out of anyone else's POV. It was like filler.

I'm still a lowly dental student, but it sounds like it could be IRM (intermediate restorative material), which is basically a temporary filling and can last anywhere from 3-6 months. The odd thing is that nowadays IRMs are usually white in color; the red and blue colored ones were used almost 20-30 years ago.

Do you have another appointment set up in the near future? Usually IRMs are used in lieu of the permanent filling, which will be added later.
