8 weeks and counting

To celebrate the 8 weeks until Prada & Prejudice's release, I give you:

EIGHT THINGS in Prada & Prejudiuce which changed during revisions.

1)  Calllie's age. She was once an 18 year old college freshman. She is now a 15 year old high school sophomore. She's totally Benjamin Button!

2) The tense. it's present tense now-- the first 7 drafts were past tense.

3) Time travel mechanism: Everyone knows she trips in her prada heels and wakes up in 1815. But did you know that in the first draft, she was hit by a car?

4) Callie's high heels. In the first draft, they were hot pink. In later drafts, they were these ridiculous lavendar floral pumps. Now, they resemble the double-buckled red heels on the cover.

5) I had to delete this really adorable dining room scene becuase it didn't advance the plot. But oh, was it fun!

6) Dancing. In initial drafts, I thought it would be normal for Callie to dance the waltz with the 19 year old Duke. I discovered through research that the waltz was still considered scandalous in the year Callie travels to. I had to change it to one of those ridiculous choreographed dances, which did allow for some comic relief.

7) Callie's last name. It's Montgomery now, but I think it was Wright at one point or another.

8) The ending!  It's completely the opposite of the first ending I ever wrote. Hopefully you like it. :-)

58 days people! This is not a drill!!

Sydney Salter (5 word answers)....

Once upon a time, I read this book:

It's hilarious and fun and fast paced. And I'm not the only one who thinks so! Publisher's Weekly just reviewed it and said, "The tougher side of catching a boyfriend is depicted with humor and understanding in this first novel," and went on to say, "The summer after her junior year in high school, she hopes to decrease her “99.9 percent” chance of “dying a virgin” by saving up for a nose job and winning the heart of cute classmate Tyler. Nothing goes as planned, and the results are simultaneously painful and hilarious."

I couldn't have said it better myself! Sydney Salter has a great voice, and lots of laugh out loud moments.

It's in stores now, so go check it out!!
