Thirteen Reasons Why is a NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Back in October, I reviewed Thirteen Reasons Why on my blog.  I loved the book, and even more I loved the story behind it: Jay Asher is often on Verla kay's "Blue Boards", a favoriate haunt of mine. He'd written an "I quit" type thread about how he was getting frustrated by the industry, by how how hard it is to break in, about how he wanted to bash his head into a wall (my words).

And then one day changed it all, and Thirteen Reasons Why was bought at Auction. I think its been close to five months since it was released.

And TODAY he found out it hit the New York Times Bestseller list. To me, to hit this list 5 months after its lay down date, suggests a huge word-of-mouth campaign. And that means he found this success becuase he just wrote a damn good book, not because he (or his publisher) spent oodles on advertising.

I LOVE these kind of stories. The kind where the person struggled (he went through four agents!) but ultimately succeeded. They're motivitating and uplifting, and so I wanted to make sure you all knew about it. :-)

So Kudos, Jay, and Congratulations.
