Writing Challenge

YOU WISH
Hello everyone!

So...in the efforts to motivate myself, I'm issuing a challenge. My critique partner (Cyn), and I, are going to be writing 2500 words each week. It's a doable goal. If I focus, i can do it one sitting. I guess that's why It's high enough to make a dent, but low enough that if I procrastinate too badly, I can still make myself do it at the last minute. The next book I write might be crap, but it will be written, dammit.

So anyways, I am issuing a challenge to anyone else who is in a slump, or just procrastinating. Every monday, i will post, asking for progress. Anyone can "join". You can post this same challenge on your own LJ. Adjust it as you want.

Who's up for the challenge?

Mandy

Those are ambitious but do-able goals. Maybe you'd like to join our Summer Shape-up community -- we're 27 LJ friends who have similar writing (and sometimes fitness-related) goals. We post our progress every Tuesday, and we leave comments and/or posts if we have a question or need encouragement.

Here's the link to an explanation. The link to the community is in the first line, in orange. We'd love to have you and Cyn join us!!!

Oooh! Perfect! Even more motivation. Themore people around to be accountable to, the better.

And it totally helps that I (also) have baby weight to lose. Harumph.

Ohhh I was part of this, but I fell off the bandwagon, cuz I suck.

Maybe I will run to catch up and throw myself back on. :)

I would be up for it, except I'm revising one novel *and* writing a new one. As soon as I get the revision done, then I'll be doing the 500 words a day thing again on the WIP. Perhaps I'll join your challenge a bit belatedly?

Sounds like a good way to keep on track. That's what I liked about taken Creative Writing classes in college - if you forced yourself to meet the deadlines and write no matter what it helped you focus and come up with some really interesting things you didn't think you had in you. I'm in.

Deadlines are good! . . . sometimes when you just write becuase you need the word count, it actually churns out some fairly decent work. "See" ya monday!! Good luck on those 2500 words!!

Hi, Many - Just found your blog through the Summer Shape-Up community and thought I'd drop by to friend you! Your baby is beautiful! (Mine are 5 and 10 now, so I miss that tiny in-your-arms stage.) Good luck with your 2500-words goal. I'm revising one WIP and researching a new one (not ready to write yet). Otherwise, I'd join you. Have a great writing week!

Well, can I just put in my 1,966 words so far this week and add that I wrote a GREAT sex scene on top of it!

It almost feels like cheating!
